Pringle 1815

Pringle 1815, the Japanese wing of Pringle of Scotland asked me to reinterpret their famous lion for Spring / Summer 2014.

The folks in Japan had requested something super friendly and cartoony and they were really happy with how this fellow came together.

Scottish Landscape Ads

In addition to the character design, a Scottish landscape with lochs, castles, towns and cities was needed for an ad campaign.

These adverts are running throughout Japan. This is completely bonkers to me (in the best possible way).

Pringle 1815 Animation

Most challenging of all was creating a short animation to accompany the campaign online. I was given free reign to dream up a little background story for the lion and, obviously, decided that he moved to Japan because Scotland was just too small to contain the awesomeness of his highland dancing.

This is by far the most complicated animation I've ever worked on and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I asked my friend and semi-regular collaborator Jonnie Common to help out with the music and sound. He knocked it out the park. Thanks Jonnie.

Thanks

Big love to everyone at Pringle 1815 for having me on board. Special thanks to Yves at BDV for all his help and for being one of the most positive dudes to work with ever.
